Nantucket’s stacked with live music this week, from free waterside sets to a couple of genuinely can’t-miss ticketed shows. Here’s everything worth knowing, venue by venue, so you can plan your nights out.
The Muse — the big one this week
If you only make it to one show, make it this one. Oteil & Friends — featuring Oteil Burbridge (Dead & Company) alongside Melvin Seals, Steve Kimock, Jason Crosby, Johnny Kimock, Tom Guarna, and Lamar Williams Jr. — plays two nights at The Muse:

- Wednesday, Aug 5 — Oteil & Friends

Cisco Brewers — free live music daily
Cisco’s outdoor stage runs live music every day this week, no cover, food trucks on site. Sets typically run late afternoon into evening (early sets Fri–Sun add an extra midday slot):

The Chicken Box — the late-night standby
Nantucket’s classic live-music dive keeps its usual packed calendar:
- Tue Aug 4 & Wed Aug 5 — Couch
- Thu Aug 6 – Sat Aug 8 — 7 Day Weekend (three-night run)
- Sun Aug 9 — The 502s

Something different: sunset sea shanty cruise
Not a venue show, but worth knowing about: Nantucket by Water runs a Sunset Cruise with the Shanty Singers every Tuesday evening through September 8, departing from Straight Wharf, Slip #1011. It’s a 90-minute harbor cruise with live local musicians leading sea shanties — a fun, low-key alternative if you want music with a view instead of a crowd. This week that’s Tuesday, Aug 4. Book ahead at nantucketbywater.com.
Worth a mention too: Brotherhood of Thieves on Broad Street usually has live music going in its beer garden most nights — lineups shift week to week, so check their Instagram day-of if you’re in the neighborhood.
